Q: stuck brakes on bmw z3 2001?
rear break stuck on been parked 4 a week in dry garage cannot shift it tired driving it off will not work can anyone help plz?

A: Depends if it's the handbrake (parking) or the regular rear brakes that are stuck. On a Z3 the handbrake works on separate shoes that work on a integral "drum" that are part of the hat area of the rear disc. Is it cold where you live, and the garage unheated? If so, it's likely the cables that actuate the rear parking brake have moisture in them, and are frozen. The best way to get them to release is by warming up the garage, if you can. If that doesn't work, then you'll probably need to remove the rear disc to see what the problem is. Remove the tension on the brake lines. There are adjusters under the boot for the handbrake. Then remove the rear wheel, and access the adjuster for the parking brake shoes though one of the wheel bolt holes. Back it off. Then remove the caliper, and caliper carrier, and the hex-head bolt holding the disc in place. Remove the disc and repair the parking brake as necessary. If it's one of the calipers that work on the rear discs that are stuck, then there's likely a problem within the caliper, or possibly the brake line. You will need to remove the caliper and disassemble it (or replace it with a rebuilt or new one). Check the line, though. If it's the flexible line, it may be crimped or kinked, so that it's not allowing the pressure to the caliper to release. In that case, you might only need to replace the flexible line. If you don't have a shop manual, get the one by Robert Bentley. It's the best one out there. Amazon and other online sources have it.

i have a 2001 bmw z3 coupe,with 32k. im about to have installed a sprint exhaust . and a vf supercharger will it pass emissions or should i first take it through emissions first?

Q: Please Help! My bmw is acting crazy?
My 2001 z3 3.0 roadster is cutting off the engine while driving. Specialy when the roads are bumpy. The ABS light comes on and EML then the car loses power and completely stalls. The funy thing is when I was driving it on a high way about 65mph the engine almost stoped. I took it to a shop this morning. A local mechanic because I coudn't take a risk going to the dealer which was a little far away. The mechanic pluged the couputer and he told me there is a problem with the camshaft sensor so I told him to replace it even though he told me to take it to the dealer shop. After replacing it the problem still exists. What do you think the problem is please help

A: You should really take BMW's to the dealer. The computer that your local mechanic used cannot access the whole system. All they are really good for is reading codes. THe fact that he said there was a camshaft sensor issue and it happens on bumpy roads would lead me to believe that there may be a loose wire. Loose wires are the hardest to diagnose because they are so intermittent. The best way that I can tell you to solve the problem would be to do a wiggle test. I know it sounds silly but you can have the car running and and shake on the wires coming from the cam sensor. If you can get the car to stall by doing that then you have a bad or loose wire along there somewhere. You may still need to have the dealer do the repairs, depending on your abilities.

If you were to choose out of these cars which one would you pick based on looks, performance and overall value. All based on model 2001 and newer 1. Mercedes Kompressor SLK 2. Audi TT 3. BMW Z3 4. Lexus SC430 if none of these which care would you pick that is similar to these. Thanks.

A: Dude, that is a hard question. I had a heck of a time picking out my sports car and in the long run I went with the Lexus. It is a little bit on the high end, but it is faster I would say and the quality of the materials is super. I love the car and can't say enough good about it. My friend just got a SLK and it is very nice. Have you seen the new BMW 3 series hard top convertible? If you have the money that is a car worth looking at also. Best of luck in your decision. I would go with Lexus. Make sure you check the warranty if you are buying a car with one.

Q: Beamer vs. Benz?
on our 16 birthday my twin sister and i got our first cars. she got a 2002 z3 Beamer and i got a 2001 slk320 Benz which car is better??? she says hers is faster and a better drive because its a BMW. i keep telling her to put her money where her mouth is and race me but she doesn't want to. lazy bitch could you tell me which one is better so i can rub it in her face and get her to shut up about her car if you can just tell me which one is faster, thats all i care about for all you who prefer beamers, you suck and your not getting the best answer
