Q: 2004 BMW X5 4.4i ??????????
I hear loud clunks as I load/unload the engine while driving at low speeds under 20mph. seems like it might be either the engine mounts or something on the drive shaft, any ideas what else it might be?

A: Like you said, engine mounts, could also be the transmission mounts, (there is 2 of them on top) I have seen Drive shaft couplings become soft and do the same as you mentioned. They get soft because the engine and transmission leak fluid on it and then it becomes soft and slightly flexible.

Q: 2004 BMW X5 breaking?
When I push the break pedal an the car comes to stop in 70% of the time right after it stops it does another forward movement but u can feel that the wheels are not moving its just the body or suspension, what can it be?

A: It is probably as you stated, the suspension. Worn parts on the suspension can cause your vehicle to "move" as the worn parts travel through the exhausted area. I would check to see if the lower control arm bushings are still good. And of course find a reputable suspension shop to find the culprit.

Q: Serious?? Valve Cover Gaskets are starting to leak (BMW X5 - 2004/35K). How soon should I get it repaired..?
Dealer quoted $526.00 How much would that be if I had it done at other mechanics in Naperville, Illinois. Thanx... Luv ya all..

A: a performance shop labor rates would likely be between 25% and 50% less than the dealership (overall service might be better). generally for all BMW's service, repair - both parts and labor - are right at the top of the scale (approx 1.5 and up to 2x that of Amer or Japanese product) and because overall dependability of the BMW is only average - once off of warranty they become very very expensive to maintain, unless you same skills and (special) tools to do some of the work yourself. in the 2005 J D Power dependability study (industry benchmark) which considered the preceding 3 yr period BMW did not make it into the top 10, and since 2005 has gravitated between 7th and 9th, lagging far behind lexus, acura, honda, and toyota - not a good showing for a premium priced car and especilly now considering that its performance is generally (model by model) only on par or below those other cars. happy to receive thumbs down from BMW fans - but facts are facts.

Hello, Im planning to buy a car. I'm really confused between a 330Ci 2004 and X5 2003. What do u think ? vote

A: X5s are gross.. The 330ci rocks..

Q: Bmw X5 Price Questions.?
How much should i pay for a 2004 BMW X5 with the 3.0 engine? i have seen prices on ebay, and id like to know what some real people have paid for theirs.

A: You might not want to listen to the guy who is claiming he is from Ernhard BMW of Bloomfield Hills, MI. Mainly because there isn't a dealership called Ernhard, its called Erhard. There's no 'N' maybe it is just me, but if you work there, you should know how to spell it. Anyway. I will give you both Pre-Owned Certified and Brand New costs. The new 2007 model is significantly different from preceding models, it is larger and has far more technology than previous years. I personally prefer the preceding style, but it is a very good vehicle. For a 2005 with 45,000 miles expect to pay around $36,999, that is pretty well loaded with options. For a 2002 X5 with only 35,300 miles, expect $27,000. Brand new, however is significantly more money, $45,900 base model. As you can see the vehicle tends to depreciate at a faster rate than BMWs sedans, wagons and coupes. This is mainly because they are SUVs, which everyone knows tend to lose value fairly quickly. That does not, however, negate their value as cars. They are sporty, get superior (it is relative, though) gas mileage and have the reputation warranted by BMW. Keep in mind there are benefits to buying new and used, both however, have BMWs extraordinary warranty. The warranty gives you completely cost-free maintenance for 50,000 miles brand new or 100,000 miles Certified Pre-Owned. I hope this helps, good luck.

Q: BMW X5 has gone crazy on me !!!!?
I have a 2004 Bmw X5 4.4i Sports Package. Problems first started when I was driving from my sisters' in law house to a gas station and then the car wouldnt start, I got a Trans Fail Safe program message. I jumped the car and it limped on 3 or 4th gear home. The next day the car was fine. I cleaned the MAF sensor, but the problem is back sometimes the tranny jumped or kicked but I got no message then when I was just sitting at my banks drive thru I got the Trans Fail Safe program message again. Now this morning the car wont start. The battery is just fine as I had it tested with Autozone. I jumped it but this time it didnt turn on. and now the needles on my dash are jumping. the alarm also started beeping for no apparent reason. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A: Whoa! Your car is possesed! I think its a total ECU failiure. It could also be a major vacuum leak. Many BMW's have electronic problems. If you have the warranty still, take it to the dealer. If not, take the battery out for a day or two and see if anything resets. You might need to plug it into a dynometer and try to fix it from there. Autozone can run an OBD II. If all else fails, get a new ECU.

Q: What is the "DSC" button in my BMW X5 car?
I have a 2004 BMW X5 3.0i and I believe it is not a 4x4 wheel drive. We just got a jet ski and we are planning on going to tlake tahoe and I thought we needed a 4x4 car, because it has alot of hills while going there. while driving, i found a DSC button and when i pressed it..... a 4x4 light lid up. But I could not tell the difference... meaning that I dont think anything changed. so What does the "DSC" button do and when is it used for??

A: None of the answers provided are correct. And I think your question is wrong too. I think the button you are referring to is called the DTC button, or Dynamic Traction Control. All new BMWs are equipped with Dynamic Stability Control. This system monitors over- and under steer and adapts engine power and individual brakes to keep the car under control and headed in the intended direction. A switch on the dashboard will put the DSC into DTC mode, or Dynamic Traction Control. In this mode, a certain degree of rear wheel slip is allowed, useful in deep snow or when having a little fun. At no time can you completely turn off the traction control on a new BMW.

Q: will 2003/2004 18" bmw 745Li oem rims fit 04-07 bmw x5?
I don't know the offset, they are factory wheels.

A: No

Q: What kind of gas mileage does your X5 get?
2004 BMW X5, 3.0, I6, Sport Package, Premium Package, Xenon, Rear Climate Package

A: About 15-20 but its an X5 4.4 with pretty much all the things you have on your X5 3.0. Like many have said, it all depends on your driving habits.

Q: BMW 745li or BMW x5?
HI there I really need to decide WHICH one of MY car NEED to go , I have BMW 745li ( 2003 model ) and a BMW x5 ( 2004 model ) Unfortunately my business become sour and i am having a little DIFFICULTIES now with my FINANCIAL problem so one of my CAR need to go to cover UP some of my BILLS and probably use the rest of the remaining money to get back on my feet again , BUT i cant really DECIDE which car do i need TO sell COZ i really like them BOTH , ANY SUGGESTION ?

A: they are both good cars, and both have a great resale value, but the 745 has a higher re-sale value than the x5. THe main thing you should consider, is which of the two cars fits your needs the most.
