Q: Help! 2001 BMW X5 or 325i?
I can't decide between buying a used 2001 X5 or 2001 325i. Both vehicles have around the same mileage but the X5 is about $2,000 more (but with more options). The X5 is white with tan leather, very nice woodgrain trim interior, cd player, heated seats, moonroof, almost all the options one could ask for! The 325i is black with tan leather as well, but does not have a cd player and the radio/dash display is scratched up a bit. It also has a moonroof, and would get significantly better gas mileage. I'm 24 with no children, so having an SUV at this particular moment is not a must, but I know it would come in handy more times than not. Although, the 325i is super cute and VERY fun to drive, seeming more like the "younger crowd's" choice of vehicle. I'm in love with both, so I'm very torn! (if you couldn't tell) The X5 would be practical for space reasons and such, but the 3-series is very cute and fun. Help!

A: Those are two completely different cars! The X5 sounds like a better deal because it is an SUV and if it has similar mileage and only 2000 more, I would go for it for the deal. The 325 is a fun car, but slower by todays standards. The gas mileage would be good though, you are right. But I would go for the X5 b/c of the slight price difference. The 325 is more reliable, but an X5 is an X5 haha

Q: Where can I purchase a navigation system for my 2001 BMW X5 (factory or not)?

A: For a BMW navigation system, check out bimmernav.com. I'm a past customer, and there stuff works like it was installed at the factory, just like they say, based on my experience. But to retrofit a nav system you're looking at a lot of money. You can get a lot of Garmins and Tom-Toms for the cost of retrofitting factory nav.

Q: BMW x5 2001 needs new break pads?
my bmw needs the break pads replaced...how much does it cost to do that?

A: Around 350 at shop,do it your self 150

Q: BMW X5 2001 Car Battery?
I'm looking for a cheap replacment of my dead battery.Don't wanna go with a dealer's genuine one.Any ideas of brand, dimensions etc?Because i don't know which one will fit. Thanks in advance!

A: Anything 12 volt will work. The question is how long will it work and in how low of tempuratures. Just go to any parts store and ask them for a cheap battery with at least the same number of cold cranking amps as the stock battery.

Q: BMW X5 2001 3.0i wheel and tire question?
I wanna upgrade my manufacture wheels to 20''(front-9.5,rear-10.5) wheels will it be OK?Coz I've heard that if it's 4wheel drive then something terrible could happen to my car.I also want to put tires:275/40/20 to front and 315/35/20 to rear. Will it work? Thanks in advance! p.s.Please do not suggest me to call to BMW dealership, coz I allready did and those douches don't know anything!!!

A: Highly not recommended to do a "stagger" on an AWD vehicle. Will do damage to drive-train. There are several facts why this would do damage, but just know it should not be done should suffice.

Q: Fuse location for radio, bmw x5 2001?
Hi does anyone know were I can locate the fuseboard, as the radio no longer works. Cheers

A: Open the glove box. The top of the glove box is the fuse box. Swing the two little clips to the side and it will swing down. I believe there is another one in the back, behind a panel on the side.

Q: BMW x5 2001 Low beam headlight ?
My right low beam headlight is out(the main light). It is very expensive to replace this light at the dealer. I took it to Car X because they do headlights and the guy said I can order the part myself to avoid the mark up if they order it and they will put it in and only charge labor. My question is, what light to order? My book says an H7 55 watt. How do I tell if it is a xenon light or a regular light-my manual doesn't tell me how I know? Is there an issue with Car X doing it? Please help me.

A: There are two different bulbs your vehicle may have. One is the H7 which is inexpensive ($8-$14) or a D2S which is a HID bulb. The D2S is going to run you between $80-$140 depending where you get it from. The best way to tell what you need is to try to see the part number on the old bulb. The number will be marked right on it. Just because the owners manual says H7 you can't always go by that. Owners manuals are a generalized manual for all the 2001 X5s. Parts may differ.

Q: Help!! I Dont get any sound out of my radio (BMW X5 2001)?
I unpluged the AMP (as i was suggested) worked for a little while then went back to no sound.

A: Hey I would just like to comment on your radio situation. I also own a BMW and have had an occasional stereo problem.. You should take your car into an authorized dealership or authorized car stereo shop and have them check the fuse that is on the back of the stereo head unit if your's has one... On BMW's there are several fuses that go to the sound system 2 that are accesible by the consumer and the other by a dealer or authorized stereo repair facilty of one thta installs aftermarket unit's.... I hope that this sheds some light on the subject... And btw to the guy that made the comment of you having disconnected the battery before you disconnected the amp that has no bearing on why your stereo wouldnt work unless you have disconnected the stereo itself...

Q: BMW X5 3.0 2001 question?
I wanna upgrade my manufacture wheels to 20''(front-9.5,rear-10.5) wheels will it be OK?Coz I've heard that if it's 4wheel drive then something terrible could happen to my car.I also want to put tires:275/40/20 to front and 315/35/20 to rear. Will it work? Thanks in advance! p.s.Please do not suggest me to call to BMW dealership, coz I allready did and those douches don't know anything!!!

A: According to tirerack.com, you can install 20" wheel/tire size with different widths, but your rear tire size is off... it should be 295/40-20 But remember that the disadvantage of having different widths is that you wouldn't be able to rotate the tires. The DSC/ABS system works on the basis of comparing wheel speeds. That's how it knows if one wheel is slipping or if you are about to go into a tailspin. If you use front and back tires of different rotational diameter (so they rotate at different rpms for the same road speed), the system may give you a warning light and disables itself thinking it's a sensor malfunction. It may also have detrimental effects on your transfer case. I would recommend that you make the front and rear widths the same. PS - you really didn't need to post this question 4 times.
