Q: Will a insurance company cover a 22 yo with a BMW M6?
I have been working a government job that pays really well and I figured I need a upgrade from my POS Maxima ive been driving for 4 years and the M6 was one of the cars that was on my list, Im still living at home with the folks so financially I am set if I purchased this car.

A: There is extra equipment in a convertible. You have the motor for the top, the storage area, and the top itself with its frame made for folding up. But the biggest contributor to the extra weight is in the extra bracing throughout the car. The roof is used a lot in the stiffness of the car. Since there is no roof, there is nothing to help assist in the strength of the chassis. Therefore, extra bracing is in the doors and other areas of the car to help make it stiffer. This is heavier than a standard roof itself, and still not as strong.

A: These engines have nothing in common. SLR has supercharged high compression 5.5 litre V8. It is based on a production unit, and shares much with the similar engine in various 55 AMG models . M6 has a unique high-revving N/A 5.0 litre V10 that is pretty much a pure racing engine, yet reliable enough to run on the street. It is by far the most special and exotic engine of these two.

A: Hi Esi, The only real way of getting your I drive updated is through your BMW dealer. It would cost about an hour in labour as only the setup and finishing time is charged and not the total programming time. This can be upto 5 hours, depending on how much is updated as it is not only the I drive that is programmed. Software crashes while programming are very very rare now and in any case the dealer would be liable to rectify any problems as a consequence of programming. What it will change really depends on what level of software your vehicle currently has. Mostly the updates are enhancements by BMW for each and every control unit on your car. The only two you may notice, is that you can gain the option of perspective view in navigation and the home screen of the I drive is silver. Of course you may have these already. Most of what you will gain is lots of small subtle enhancements in the running of your vehicle, engine management, stabilty control, CD multi changer, parking sensors.............the list is endless. If your car has never been done from new then it is likely that approx 24 control units will be updated. Ask the dealer to tell you what has been updated, they should even be able to give you a print out of what has been done. If something has not been updated then it doesn't need it !! I have never ever known a car be worse from having programming done. With regard to the controller, the top just pulls off and you can change the trim. A: the dealership will not do it due to liability issues and such...maybe a performance shop would do it, try some bmw forums
