Q: Poll: BMW M3 2001-2006 or the new BMW 335 2007-current?
BMW M3 (2001-2006) or the new BMW 335 (2007-current)?
Which one would you rather pick?
A: I pick this one

the new one looks to heavy.
Q: 2005 BMW M3 vs. 2005 BMW 645 vs. 2006 BMW 550(or '08 535)?
Which would be a better buy, better looking, less problems+maintenance, fun & aftermarket options?
A: the m3 would be the better buy in my opinion since its the most performance model out of the other three and looks the most distinct in those three i think and its my favourite too. maintenance i think would probably a little more for the m3 and the funnest and aftermarket would be the m3
Q: What are some good & bad things about owning a BMW M3?
I love the M3, & want to buy one soon but my mom & her friend are trying to talk me out of it they say to insure it cost a lot of money. I plan on getting a 2004-2006 M3 SMG & just wanted to ask people that know more about the M3 what are some good & bad things of owning one.
A: The BMW M cars are pure driver's cars. It something that you would want to take to a test track or drive fast just for the feeling. The engine growl is something that you can't find anywhere else short of an Italian exotic. The car does everything very well.
When the M cars are right, there's nothing like them, but when their messed up, there's also nothing like them.
They can be hideously expensive to repair. I would bet that you would receive near a 10,000 dollar bill to replace the SMG transmission. A blown engine will be upwards of 15k. A vanos problem or AC unit would be @ 2k or better.
I am not telling you not to buy one, these cars are special. Do your research and find one with a good history, you may also want to look into a warranty.
You also need to join a BMW forum to research common problems and cost of ownership before you make an purchase.
Q: BMW ///M3....Small block Chevy....?
is it possible to easily put a small block chevy into a 2006 BMW M3?
A: Why would you want to ruin an M3 like that?
Q: 1997-1999 BMW E36 M3 OR 2006-2007 CHARGER RT?
I need advice folks!!! I'm leaning toward the m3 though, but it's still hard to pick. To get that mean loud sound i was going to take the Hemi to my mechanic and get the resonators took off along with the cat & run straight pipes from the headers...Same thing with the m3. Think that would sound nice??
A: BMW=high end performance and luxury
Chrysler=family car with big motor, slopy handling, cheap plastic assembly
Q: which BMW M3 looks better, the 2000-2006 or the present M3?
A: Without a doubt, the present M3. I have driven it (but decided to get an M5) and it is great, the engine is top of the line in terms of getting the max amount of horsepower from a naturally aspirated engine. Much more technology packed inside too.
Q: should i trade in a 2006 bmw 330i for a mazda rx-8 or subaru impreza wrx sti or older m3?
my dad says he is going to give me his 06 bmw 330i sedan after graduation...its a good car with 55k on it but it is an automatic....i am very happy to receive such a gift, but at the same time...a bmw is too nice and fancy for me....honestly i would rather have a nissan 240sx with a manual as my first car i may want to trade it in for another car that is simpler cheaper while still sporty with a manual any suggestions?
A: What! Too Fancy! Keep the beamer. I would rather the BMW than any other car you have listed. Besides, it only has 55k! I would love to have a car like that.
Q: What's your favorite BMW model?
I'm a huge BMW fan, and I was wondering which model is your favorite?
I'll start out
My favorite is the 2001-2006 BMW M3 (e46). It just looks perfect especially when you have the right rims.
A: The m3 is really nice but I have to go with the new m5. With 500 horsepower and an aggressive looking front end and rear it is a nice machine.
Q: why does a BMW M3 bunny hops in 2nd and 3rd gear so much sometimes??
I've got a BMW M3 with SMG II gearbox and the latest 2006 software. Seems to be jerky on moderate speed take offs. Upshifting helps a bit . Throttle seems top make things worst.
A: It isn't a bunny hop. Bunny hopping is the rear axle losing contact with ground, which is pretty much cured by an independent rear suspension.
There is a known "bucking" issue. Basically, the throttle is sensitive enough that if you hit a bump as you're starting, the lighter pressure caused by your foot bouncing back will cause the care to slow, pushing your foot forward, causing the car to lurch, which pushes you back, causing the car to slow again, etc. Higher gears lessen the sensitivity - this usually happens in 1st gear.
As for what to do, if you've got Sport mode enabled, turn it off. After driving the car for a while, you learn to modulate your starts with SMG a little better, but it still happens from time to time. If it does, upshifting cures the problem.

Q: Anybody know where I can buy the old 2006 BMW M3?
im from toronto and im wondering if i can buy a new M3 2006 version from bmw?
A: There is a BMW dealer on Don Mills Road just north of Eglinton that can get you anything you want. They import if they don't have it. Go see them but watch your speed, there is always a radar speed trap there.
Q: 2006 BMW 325 any good at racing?
I found a used 2006 BMW 325 with 20,000 KM mileage, with a price tag of $30K. I tried looking for an M3 with the same price and mileage, but without any luck.
So anyway is the 2006 325 any good at racing, or is luxury and handling all it's meant for?
A: Regardless of what jimmyjon says i seriously doubt you will get a 33% increase in power from a chip and catback exhausts....even if you installed a better intake and headers you would not get that increase.
these traditional mods may provide 18-20% at the crank, and without headers much of that power will not get to the rear wheels.
the 325 is a decent handling - car, but certainly not performance oriented, like most BMW's tends to be underpowered and this one is also a touch pudgy.
The only performance modification of consequence that will turn this car into a wee bit of a contender is forced induction, like here
http://www.koperformance.com/BMW/turbo_superchargers/vf_engineering/vf_enginnering_supercharger_for_e46_323_and_325.htm
This is a mild boost supercharger-bolt on installation designed to run with the stock internals of the 325.
With a a boost of 6lbs it will provide a gain of approx. 42%,
but this would still only yield all in hp at the crank of approx 260, still relatively low and quite frankly for the cost a small power gain.
To get this car up to decent numbers (for acceleration, mid band power) requires extensive engine work (stroker kit to swap in forged internals) plus race heads, then a high boost forced induction system....and this makes no economic sense what so ever.
You are much further ahead buying a more dependable, much higher performing auto that will run circles around most BMW's including M's,
like EVO6 or WRXsi (cost less, run longer and stronger). Additionally their engine build is superior to BMW so if you want to enhance performance (beyond already outstanding numbers in terms of speed and handling) it can be done readily.

Q: Ford Mustang vs. Infiniti G37 vs BMW M3?
Which Would You Pick & Why???
Ford-2006-2008
Infiniti-2008
BMW-2003-2005
A: ford is out of the question. mustangs are great but only if their are cobras or svts. the G37 is an exquisite combination of power and luxury. The same goes for the M3. Being 2008 however, u'd still get a lot of warranty left on the Infinity. The M3 is a better sports car of the three. I'd take the G37 in 6sp because it's sexy as hell.
Q: Which car is faster, good at mileage, reliablity, handling & insurance?
2006 BMW M3,
2007 Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan,
2007 Nissan 350Z Coupe NISMO,
2008 Dodge Charger SRT8,
2007 Dodge Ram SRT
or
2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
A: Based on the Criteria you mentioned, the Subaru and Nissan would both be winners. Too close to call between those two. The M3 is probably just as good, but it costs a lot more, and it's not necessarily worth it given your criteria. The SRT8 is probably comparable to the other cars except in the area of fuel consumption.
The trucks don't have any place in this contest. I'm surprised you'd even consider something like a truck, when the criteria are speed, mileage, reliability, handling, and insurance. Trucks aren't how we get speed, mileage, and handling in the same vehicle.
Dee is right about the vette. I don't have one, but on paper it's a huge performance bargain. Very few cars ever made will keep up even with the standard vette.
Q: does it worth it to get a 50,000 dollars car?
im thinking about getting a 2006 bmw m3 but alots of people say it a waste of money so i dunno
A: Honestly for 50K you can get a better car! I am a huge care person. You can get a great car around the 30K price range such as
Lexus IS 250 (my personal favorite and what I'm saving for!) http://www.medievalfx.com/photos/250kit.jpg
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/lexus/is250/100908538/prices.html
Lexus GS350 (this one is more expensive and i dont think it looks as good as the IS 250
http://www.flickr.com/photos/great_one/636068494/
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/lexus/gs350/100943572/prices.html
BMW 325i
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/bmw/3series/100946471/prices.html
Audi A4
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/audi/a4/100882875/prices.html
Infinite G35 (another huge favorite of mine in black)
http://www.edmunds.com/new/2008/infiniti/g35/100943788/prices.html
My list goes on and on
BMW 525I
BMW X5
Acura TL
Acura TXS
So if your looking to get a car that shows class and well money then all the above cars give you that without the price tag. If you want the M3 because of the speed then going with a 2 door Infinite G35s is a great option also. ~Good Luck~

Q: When should a car use Premium gasoline ?
I have a new SUV, I use Regular gasoline on it, this is a 2006 SUV and it rides fine with regular, my husband on the other hand has a 1997 M3 BMW and he says his car has to use the premium gasoline. I would like to know why ? What is the difference if he started using the lower octane gasoline.
A: If the manufacturer recommends premium gasoline for a vehicle it is a good idea to do just that. The higher octane protects the pistons and cylinders from extensive damage that lower octane can inflict. This is especially true in motorcycles and high end automobiles. Check your owners manual for the recommended octane and stick with that. Using high octane (premium) can't hurt an engine but low octane can if the car is supposed to run on high octane. The repair bill for such damage is horendous.
Hoped this helped.
