Q: 2003 BMW M3 - Service Engine Soon warning light?
I bought a 2003 BMW M3 last week, and the Service Engine Soon light came on yesterday. I did some research on the net and lots of people said to check the gas filler cap, which I did and the light is still on. The manual says it has something to do with the emissions control system and that it's ok to drive, but to get it inspected at a BMW dealer ASAP. Anyone have this experience? Do I need to rush off to a dealer and have it checked? Just dropped $$$ to buy it and not all that keen to spend more. Thanks!
A: Save yourself time and money and take the car to either a BMW dealership or an independent BMW shop that has invested thousands of dollars in the equipment that can "read" fault codes. The code readers available elsewhere are not always accurate and can sometimes give you false codes, and therefore, an incorrect diagnosis.

A: No.
BMW didn't sell any cars with stock turbos in 2003. The 2006 335i was BMW's first turbocharged car since the 1986 745i.

A: If its a 'keeper' you will have for a long time, get the Subaru. The reliability is fantastic. If you'll only have it for a while, get the M3.
running costs will be similar, but the M3 will cost to fix and maintain when it is off warranty

A: The Elise is so light, some consider it a big boy's toy. Perfect track car if you're the kind. Note that if you're looking for a luxurious interior, the Elise isn't it. The 2 aren't exactly in the same category (sports car vs. GT). you shouldn't have problems looking for a used M3 with a good price.

i was thinking about the insurance cost and the repair costs for both these cars and i'm unsure of what to buy. The cars are not a problem to purchase, my parents are willing to buy either one of them, but for long term which car would be better. First of all, you suck.
Second, choose the Bimmer. It's a real peach and the Merc is a dog. Trust me on this one. The BMW outperforms the Merc in every category, is built 1000% better and is more reliable as well.

For a 2003 BMW M3, here are the sites I recommend. I'm not sure that you'll get it for under $10,000, but please take a look to see what is out there.

5) Then there is always ebay.com.uk. eBay can be very tricky. Don't pay for any car before you have seen it. There is a great deal of fraud on eBay, even though it is an extremely popular place to sell cars.
